Before Proceeding to Install Custom ROM update to latest OTA and take a complete format of device is required, Take full Backup and Remove Any Security Lock on Device.

Also, have a Xiaomi Account with Mobile Number of Sim1 ready for sign-in whenever required prior to Bootloader Unlocking and make sure you have a couple of Mobile Data MBs at least. And an INTEL PC/Laptop. For AMD you may need to do via WSL Ubuntu. If you encounter issues try to power off via the options available and boot straight to the fastboot or recovery depending in whichever stage you are

STEP 1 – INSTALLING DEVICE DRVIERS(PC)

1.Switch off your phone and boot it into fastboot by powering on phone and keeping Vol Down pressed until fastboot mode appears with Mi Bunny Logo.Connect phone via cable to PC. (tip: While booting from powered off holding 1.Vol Up- Recovery, 2.Vol Down-fastboot).

2. On PC Download MiUnlockTool. Extract the zip and run “driver_install.exe” and open “miflash_unlock.exe” . If it prompts a newer version is available, download it , extract and again open “miflash_unlock.exe” of that zip’s extracted folder. On Top right click Settings icon. Check Current Version. and Click Check button for driver installation. It will ask to reconnect USB. If done correctly will show driver installed. Just in Case, run driver install again.

STEP 2 – UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER(Mobile + PC)

  1. Optional Step Before Bootloader Unlocking For Smooth Error Free Bootloader Unlocking- Backup Phone and Do a factory reset through MIUI Settings /Recovery (Power Off phone, then hold Power On + Vol UP, select format data/factory reset) Your device is anyway going to be wiped clean after being unlocked.
  2. Once Factory Reset has been done, Sign-in to your Xiaomi Account using Sim1 Mobile Number. Make Sure you turn on Sync setting for Xiaomi Account during the setup process after reset. Remove any password lock on your device. Goto Settings/Enable Sync/Miui Cloud/Turn on Find Device/ Tap Sync. (Optional-Check by Sign-in on PC and find ur device)
  3. On Phone Open Settings/About Phone , Tap on MIUI Version 10 times. Goto Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options. Turn On OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging. Goto MiUnlock Status .Turn off Wifi, Switch to Mobile Data of Sim1. Click Agree and proceed to Add Account and make sure you see “Account Added Successfully” or equivalent.
  4. On PC run “miflash_unlock.exe” from step 1 of Driver Installation. Now procced to Sign-in via QR Code method (top right of sign-in box) by Scanning QR using phone (quick toggle QR/any QR Code app). QR method gets done faster instead of phone number and OTP.
  5. Once Signed in . Power Off Phone. Power On again while holding Volume Down until you see “FASTBOOT”. Connect Ur Phone to PC via USB 2.0 Port. Until You See “Phone Connected “. Procced to Unlock, “Unlock Anyway”, etc and then Click Reboot Phone. Setup your phone again and sign-in using Xiaomi Account if it requires and then remove it via Settings/Accounts. Enable Developer Options and USB Debugging like previously. Goto MiUnlock Status and check for “This device is unlocked” else try unlocking again. Before next step sign-out Mi Account.

STEP 3 – FLASHING POS-RECOVERY(ADB-PC)

  1. On PC ,Download platform tools SDK for Windows and extract the zip, next Download POS Recovery from the description of the latest build or latest one from this link or this and paste into the platform tools folder . After you have unlocked your device, Power on device and boot into the fastboot mode ( Vol Down + Power). CONNECT USB and On PC goto folder of platform tools, and type cmd in the address bar of the folder like so in the image shown below. this will open cmd.

2. Once CMD opens up after previous step ,Type fastboot devices and see if the result shows your device id and then type “fastboot flash recovery ” press tab until the recovery file name appears, if it doesn’t then drag drop the POS-Recovery Image file into cmd and hit enter . If flashed correctly you will see the message “Finished. Total Time-” as shown below in image.

3. Once done, type “fastboot boot ” press tab until the recovery file name appears, if it doesn’t then drag drop the POS-Recovery Image file into cmd and hit enter and check if POS-Recovery starts up. If yes then proceed to next step, else flash POS-Recovery again .

or “fastboot reboot recovery” and hold VOL UP while device starts to reboot to recovery

STEP 4 – FLASHING POS VIA POS RECOVERY(ADB-PC)

  1. Download POS-Build place it in the extracted folder of Platform Tools SDK from the previous step. If you have booted into POS Recovery then proceed else Boot to PixelOSRecovery (VolUp + Power) (or “adb reboot recovery” if ur phone is booted up, or “fastboot reboot recovery” if you are in fastboot.

2. In POS Recovery, perform clean wipe by performing “Format System” and “Format Data”. Use volume buttons to navigate if touch not working.

3. Once done, Go back to Apply Update and Select “Apply from ADB”. Connect Device to PC via USB and open type “cmd” in the platform tools folder where POS Zip has been copied to. Type “adb sideload” , press space and type “P” and tab until the full zip name shows up as shown in 2nd image below. Hit enter. Once Done, use the top back button to go back to POS Recovery homepage, and Select Reboot System Now.

You Will be Greeted with a Welcome and Setup Page for the ROM. Enjoy
